Most
kids and teenagers these days just want to sit around, play video games, watch TV, and eat chips and frozen pizzas.
Not only is this unhealthy and setting them up to be obese as adults, they are also unknowingly forming habits that will stick with them for the rest of their life and dictate their future, their long term health, and potentially much more...
...Most young adults today have never actually set and progressively achieved a single worthwhile personal goal in their entire life. As a result, their self-confidence, self-worth, and self-motivation are very weak
and hold back their drive and ultimately their success and satisfaction in life. Unfortunately, it is often very hard to get grown adults to change their life habits, as they are usually firmly set in their ways and change can be uncomfortable. Kids, however, are still very maleable and their life habits are still in the process of being created. Of course, the important thing is to make sure that they create the right habtis. And there inlies the problem...
...Unfortunately, the last person in the world that a kid or teenager wants to listen to his mom and dad. Even if you can force your kid into action, he probably tends to resent it and often only obeys out of fear of punishment. What kids need is a positive role model who is young enough for them to look up to and that they can percieve as "cool" to help them create healthy, beneficial habits during this critical phase of adolescence in which rebellion is the norm.
This is precisely the reason that I started Dallas Youth Training. If today's youth do not get healthy, build their self-confidence, and learn to utilize self-discipline to achieve worthwhile goals while they are young, then they are setting themselves up for obesity, disease, and failure as adults.
There are plenty of influences out there for your kid, but most of them center around indulgence, entertainment, instant gratification, and laziness. I have a passion for helping kids learn to love life and all the good that it has to offer them through positive habits and a positive attitude. Exercise and healthy eating are the basis for a healthy, energetic life and the self-discpline and work ethic that are developed through participating in a fitness program can be applied to all other aspects of life.
- Teach your kids/teens healthy eating habits and actually get them to want to eat right (be careful - alot of the kids I train end up following my guidelines so well that they end up preaching to their parents about unhealthy eating habits!)
- Teach your kids to love exercise and fitness, teach them how to workout properly and effectively using correct exercise technique, and help them create a habit of fitness that will stick with them for the rest of their life
- Help your kids set, and progressively achieve, fitness goals that will help them learn the value of self-discipline, gain self-confidence, and realize their capability to achieve any goal that they set for themselves in life
- Teach your kids basic self-defense (boxing and wrestling)
- Relieve you of some of the stress and pressure of struggling with your stubborn adolescent about eating healthy, exercising, developing self-discipline, respect, etc.
I train kids and teens in a Monthly Group Training Camp that meets twice a week in the afternoons after school at Powerplay Fitness and I also do private 1-on-1 training sessions as well. Click Here for Pricing and Schedule Details
