About Me

My name is George Koehl (pronouced Cole) and I am a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Certified Metabolic Typing Advisor, and I have my bachelor's degree from Baylor University.

My passion is health and fitness and I love being able to spend my life helping people achieve their health and fitness goals and get in better shape than they ever imagined possible. I train adults, kids, teenagers, student athletes, and professional athletes. Each of these groups has its own rewards and I love working with them all, but my favorite group to train is kids and teenagers because of the huge impact that I can potentially have in their lives by helping them create positive, healthy habits that they will carry with them into adulthood.

Most of the people that kids look up to these days are openly immoral, conceited, immature, and do not seem to care about the fact that millions of kids are watching their every move with automatic admiration. On top of that, the powerful science of modern marketing is constantly bombarding kids with messages to eat all kinds of junk food and spend all of their time in front of the TV and computer. There are not enough "cool" positive influences out there and America's youth are starving for good role models that can help them create positive, healthy, beneficial habits in their lives.

In my opinion, some of most important habits and character traits that an individual can develop are

  • A strong work ethic
  • Self-discipline, mental discipline, and focus
  • A love for health and fitness
  • A habit of setting high goals and progressively achieving them through self-discipline and perseverance
  • A sense of compassion and the desire to do good to others
  • A desire for knowledge, learning, and wisdom in general
  • A desire to make a difference with your life and the time that you have been given on this earth.

Who They Look Up To

Many of a person's traits, habits, and tastes are set during the adolescent years and then solidified during the early years of adulthood. However, grown adults are very difficult to change because they tend to be set in their ways, whether they be good or bad. Kids, on the other hand, are still developing their life habits and thus are very susceptible to the influence of the people that they think are "cool". This can be a very dangerous thing if the kid picks the wrong role model, but if the right role models are selected, it can make all the difference in the world. A positive role model that is perceived as "cool" can help influence a kid or teenager to develop good habits, attitudes, and desires that can carry into adult life and lead them to live a purposeful life of true success.

Inactive Kids Become Obese Adults

On top of all of this, I am also gravely concerned about the future health of today's youth when they become adults. Many kids do not exercise at all and are of the opinion that exercise is no fun. However, most of them end up loving it after they get started and begin to make progress. They begin to see how good physical exercise can feel and their motivation is increased by their progress. Over time, this turns into a habit of exercise that they will most likely carry into adulthood with them.

The same things apply to eating healthy. Most kids prefer to eat junk food because it gives them instant gratification, but when they realize that eating healthier can propel their fitness progress forward much faster and can make them feel better, they begin to clean up their eating habits and thereby set the stage for the eating habits that they will follow throughout their adult life.

My Goal

In summary, the adolescent years are very short and yet have a tremendous impact on the formation of a number of important life habits, including exercise and healthy eating. I feel that it is worth my time to apply my best efforts to training and teaching adolescents to help them develop a love for health and fitness along with the self-confidence that can only come through the setting of a goal and progressively achieving it.

My goal is to have a positive impact on as many kids as possible in order to help ensure that the next generation is made up of fit, healthy, positve, confident, goal oriented people who have a good attitude on life and use their life to create value in the lives of others.
